In The Darkness...

In the darkness alone I walk.
I can see nothing, but hear people talk.

I hear lots of talk about prejudice and hate.
It's hard to describe how these people relate.

They seem so ignorant to the meaning of life.
They care for no one, not brother, nor wife.

Many days I did travel before I finally saw light.
It was in a schoolyard and shining so bright!

I could see only kids, all with smiles on their faces.
Not once did they speak of hating other races.

They all played together in love and content.
It was that day I learned what life truly meant.

As I stepped from the darkness and left ignorance behind,
the kids taught me the lesson of love of mankind.
