What causes people to become prejudice towards others? Some people will tell you it's because
of the difference in skin colors. Others might tell you it's because of the differences in cultures.
Some even use the differences in religion to justify being prejudice. The list goes on and on.
The actual reason these people are prejudice is because they lack the ability to understand
people different from themselves.
If the color of a person's skin is different from your own does that make the person different
as well? Are you any different when you go to the beach and get a sunburn? Well, besides a little pain
you're still the same person. At first this may sound a bit silly but if you really think about it
is there any difference between this and discriminating against someone because of his or her race or
nationality? We're all human beings. The scientific name "Homo Sapiens" classifies us all under
the same genus and species. Homo is the Latin word for human being. Sapien is the Latin word for
wise. If scientists classify all people under the same species why are men of lesser intelligence
prejudice? Maybe it's because even though they are human, they're not very wise.
Many people have many different religious beliefs. It doesn't make someone a bad person because
he or she worships idols or different gods than you do. Christians, Jews, and Muslims all worship God.
Because of differences in their beliefs they sometimes create barriers of hate between themselves.
This usually goes completely against what their religion teaches. If you were raised in a different
country and taught a different religion chances are you would follow these beliefs. It's ok to talk
about your beliefs with someone else but never try to force them to believe as you do. You can invite
people to your religious services without doing it in a disrespectful way. Never put someone down
because of what he or she believes. People of different religions often feel just as strongly about their
beliefs as you do. If you respect the beliefs of others usually they will also respect your beliefs.
Why do I think prejudice people are ignorant? An ignorant person lacks knowledge about a particular
subject or fact because they are uninformed or unaware. Some people are ignorant because they are isolated
from the things they do not understand. Other people are ignorant because ignorant people taught them to be
ignorant as well. I am not trying to make fun of these people. Being ignorant doesn't make a person bad.
Turning ignorance into hate is what makes people bad. I don't want to be ignorant. Do you?
